From Music Dreams to Antique Auctions
At 34, Izzie has become a familiar face on television, celebrated for her expertise in jewellery and antiques. However, her path to success wasn’t straightforward. Initially aspiring to be a professional musician, Izzie had her sights set on a life immersed in melodies. Yet, after attending music college, her passion waned. “I planned to be a professional musician but didn’t enjoy music college,” she shared with Great British Life. “It wasn’t for me.”
Her transition into television was unplanned and serendipitous. While working as an auctioneer, she found herself stepping in front of the cameras almost by accident. “There were no other auctioneers available; it had to be me,” she explained, recalling her first experience auctioning items for Bargain Hunt. “I had to auction the Bargain Hunt lots in front of the cameras.”
A Push from Home Leads to a Passion for Antiques
Izzie’s journey into antiques began in her hometown of Quarndon, Derby, where she grew up with her parents, Sheila and Toby, and her younger brother, Hugh. After completing university, she returned home to weigh her career options. Her mother suggested exploring the world of antiques, which led her to take on a work experience placement at a local auction house. That opportunity sparked her enthusiasm for the field and eventually secured her a full-time position.
Her growing interest in jewellery prompted her to study at the Birmingham School of Jewellery, where she honed her skills and deepened her knowledge of her craft. “I kind of fell into this job, but I absolutely love it,” Izzie admitted in a 2019 interview with the Bristol Post. “I’ve always loved jewellery and sparkly things, like most girls. I cannot think of anything I’d rather do.”

Last month, Bargain Hunt showcased its reputation for uncovering hidden treasures when one team made a stunning profit on an overlooked item. Competing as part of the red team, Nathalie and Karl managed to impress both audiences and antiques expert Raj Bisram with their finds.
Tasked with sourcing profitable fashion accessories, Nathalie and Karl completed two purchases within just 20 minutes—a Swedish vase for £15 and a vintage Omega gentleman’s watch from the 1970s for £130. They wrapped up their spree with a £20 Clarice Cliff mustard pot, despite it lacking a lid. Meanwhile, the competing blue team, Adam and Jemma, focused on items with a Chinese theme.
Raj, known for his sharp eye and extensive experience, was taken aback by the red team’s swift decisions. “This is probably one of the easiest teams I’ve ever had,” he exclaimed. “Twenty minutes down, two items. It’s a walk in the park—what else can I say?”
